If you’re one of the unlucky Assassin’s Creed 2players who’ve been wandering around the Hideout for days, with no way to get back into the playground of Ezio’s memories, you’ll be relieved to know that a new freedom patch is on the way. It’ll launch for PS3 today and on December 11 for Xbox 360.

The patch promises to fix the Sequence 11 glitch and many others (the list may contain spoilers for you), including a bug that allows Ezio to walk on air in “extremely rare occasions.” We didn’t know about that one, but now we’re going to miss it.

Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines picks up after the first game, so you still control Altair, and not the new hero of the series Ezio. The game takes place in Cyprus with Altair on the trail of the Templers. You’re once again viewing memories inside the animus, but you never get to see the world outside of the machine.

Just like the console versions, Altair is an agile guy with his ability to run and leap across buildings, all the while being able to take on guards using weapons. The free-running mechanic is present and correct and it feels the same as its console counterpart, initiated by holding down the R button on the PSP. Combine this with the X button and Altair will automatically jump from beam to beam, rooftop to rooftop and ledge to ledge. The fact that this mechanic is included is great, but due to the fact that the game is running on the PSP, it does not give off the same effect as its console counterpart. Due to the lack of graphic fidelity, the areas just lack that sense of scope.

The combat, on the other hand, is replicated almost down to a tee to the console version of AC. It makes use of the same counter-based system found in the console games, in which you simply time your attack as your enemy begins his. There’s very little stealth on display here, with the majority of missions asking you to kill people in the open. You still have to run from guards, but this PSP game definitely feels more like an arcade-style entry into the series that’s ultimately designed for instant gratification, which is just right for this handheld title.

Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines features exclusive connectivity with the PlayStation 3’s version of Assassin’s Creed II. By connecting a PSP to the PlayStation 3, six exclusive and unique weapons can be unlocked on Assassin’s Creed II as well as on Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines. The new weapons you get do not enhance your character any more then the default weapons for both versions of the game, but what does seem like a added bonus is the ability to transfer gold coins you have collected in AC PSP to AC:2 PS3, so you effectively could have more money earlier on in the console version of the game.

PWInsider.com reports that Vince McMahon has not openly reacted to TNA’s announcement that it will run a live show on Monday, January 4.

McMahon has generally been no-selling anything involving TNA’s recent attempts to wage war with WWE, so his lack of public reaction here fits the pattern.

There similarly has been no definitive plan made to turn the show into a three-hour special, although most assume that announcement will come.

Interestingly in WWE’s case, John Cena, the company’s most popular star, is expected to miss the show because he’ll be in Arizona doing the Fiesta Bowl coin flip to promote Wrestlemania 26. He might appear in a taped segment
